Technical Issues
1: Error message - “The file cannot be opened.
Please insert the book's CD-ROM
disk in the drive and click Retry”
This occurs when the Superlex program is looking in the wrong place for the required book. To resolve this problem click CANCEL to the error message. Use the FILE | REMOVE BOOK... menu to remove the problem book. Then using the ADD BOOK... menu item, navigate to the C:\BILING folder (if dictionary has been installed completely on to the hard disk), or navigate to the CD drive to find the appropriate book.

2: Conflict with Microsoft systems extensions
There is a known conflict between the Mac version of the Superlex program and certain Microsoft System Extensions. To resolve this and to continue using the Bilinguals, it is necessary to disable the Microsoft extensions listed below, by using the EXTENSIONS MANAGER control panel.

3: Error message - “Setup is unable to locate the script file”
To resolve this problem, a manual installation can be attempted.

Copy the following 4 files from the SUPERLEX folder on the CD-ROM to your
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.
- Book.dll
- Format2.dll
- Mfcoleui.dll
- Winstory.dll

Copy the following files from the SUPERLEX folder on the CD-ROM to a new folder on your hard disk, e.g. C:\BILING
- Slex*.hlp
- Slex*.oxr
- Slex44e.hlp
- Slex44e3.oxr
- Superlex.exe

Go to START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL, double-click the FONTS icon. Go to FILE menu, select INSTALL NEW FONT.....

Navigate to the CD drive and double-click on the FONTS folder. When the fonts appear listed in the window (it may take a few seconds), click the SELECT ALL button, then click OK.

Copy the file(s) *.AND from the BOOKS folder on the CD-ROM to your hard disk folder C:\BILING.

Using WINDOWS EXPLORER, double-click on C:\BILING\SUPERLEX.EXE. Go to FILE menu | ADD BOOK...

Navigate to C:\BILING and double-click on *.AND, click OK.

Create a shortcut to the SUPERLEX.EXE program, and place it in the START | PROGRAMS menu.

4: Search word does not appear highlighted in the text
When viewing an entry from the RESULTS FROM SEARCH window, the word initially searched for does not appear highlighted, making it difficult to find the part of the entry relating to the word searched. Unfortunately there is no fix available for this problem.

5: “Illegal Operation” occurs when searching for the word VALLEY in the Duden dictionary
This occurs when the word VALLEY is searched for in the English-German dictionary. Unfortunately there is no fix available for this problem.
