The Alistair MacQueen Memorial Grant

The late Alistair MacQueen had a long and notable career in legal publishing, founding Blackstone Press in 1988.

When Oxford University Press bought Blackstone Press in 2001 it acquired more than books. The various goodwill initiatives that Alistair had been instrumental in setting up with law schools across the UK were taken forward by OUP.

Giving back to legal education was important to Alistair, and as a tribute Oxford University Press is setting up an annual memorial grant in his honour, linked to the Law Teacher of the Year Award.

Grant award

A grant of £1,000 will be awarded alongside the winning law teacher's personal cheque. The grant will go towards a particular charitable project or initiative the university is involved in or thinking of setting up. It could be a pro bono project, or a student outreach programme perhaps.

The annual grant will be made by OUP, in addition to, and separate from, the personal cheque the winner.

In 2009 this Grant was won by Gary Watt. For more information on this and the 2009 award, simply click here. Return to this page for details of how the Grant is being used.
