Noel Armenakas trained at the University of Athens School of Medicine, Greece, before moving to the US to continue postgraduate education in many carious facilities there. He is currently the Clinical Associate Professor for the Department of Urology, Cornell University Weill Medical College, New York.

Dr. Harald Becher is a Consultant Cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital, specialising in echocardiograms. Dr. Becher is also a professor of Cardiac Ultrasound for the University of Oxford.
Timothy Betts: Pacemakers and ICDs
Dr. Timothy Betts is a Consultant in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. His areas of expertise include general cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac devices (including pacing, implantable defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy) and ablation of arrhythmias. Dr. Betts graduated from Birmingham University Medical school in 1991 and trained in Cardiologuy in Southampton and the Wessex Region. He was awarded his Doctorate of Medicine by Southampton University in 2003, supported by the British Cardiac Society International Research Fellowship. In 2001-2002 he completed a Fellowship in Adult and Paediatric Electrophysiology at Northwestern University and the Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago. His research interests include the pathogenesis and ablation of atrial fibrillation.
Edwina Brown: End of Life Care in Nephrology
Edwina Brown's clinical and research interests are related to cardiovascular complications of chronic kidney disease and peritoneal dialysis. Her initial renal training was at Yale and then Charing Cross Hospital, London. She became a consultant there in 1991 and was promoted to Professor of Renal Medicine at Imperial College London in 2004. She is one of the editors of Supportive Care for the Renal Patient published by OUP in 2004 and runs an annual course on this topic.
Oliver Cassell: Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Oliver Cassell is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon at the Oxford Hospitals NHS Trust and an honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Oxford. He worked in plastic surgery in Bristol, Wales and Ireland before starting his specialist training on the Oxford and Wessex scheme. He completed a microsurgery fellowship in Melbourne and undertook research in tisue engineering, being awarded a Master of Surgery from the University of Melbourne. His reconstructive interests are in skin cancer, head and neck, and breast reconstruction. His aesthetic practice concentrates in breast reshaping and body contour surgery.
Edward Doyle: Paediatric Anaesthesia
Edward Doyle is a consultant paediatric anaesthetist at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. Particular areas of clinical interest and expertise include regional anaesthesia, postoperative analgesia and management of the difficult paediatric airway. Non-clinical commitments include teaching, training and postgraduate examinations.
Mark Edwards: Parkinson¿s Disease and Other Movement Disorders
Mark Edwards attended the Royal London and St Bartholomew's Medical School 1991-1997. After general medical training in East London, he joined the National Hospital for Neurology in 2000 as a junior doctor, then did three years of research in Movement Disorders at the Institute of Neurology with Professors Bhatia, Quinn and Rothwell. Dr. Edwards developed a particular interest in the pathophysiology of movement disorders, in particular dystonia. Mark Edwards is now working as a specialist registrar in neurology, with continued research and clinical interests in movement disorders.
Celia Eggeling: End of Life Care in Nephrology
Celia Eggeling qualified as a generic social worker in 1980, and in 1986 she joined the S.W. Thames Renal Unit as a Renal Social Worker. Recognising the psychological impact renal failure had on patients and their families, she undertook counselling training, gaining an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy and in 2004 a doctorate. Her special interest was in Living Donation from the donor perspective and her evidence-based research from single and multi-centred studies has been published. More recently Celia has helped set up a Palliative Care Service on the Unit.
Roy Gardner: Heart Failure
Roy Gardner graduated from Dundee University in 1996. He is a specialist registrar in cardiology in Glasgow and has a specialist interest in heart failure. He was awarded an MD in 2006 for markers of prognosis in advanced heart failure and has a particular interest in the assessment of patients for cardiac transplantation.
Henk Giele: Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Henk Giele is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon at the Oxford Hospitals NHS Trust. He is also a consultant in hand surgery, and cosmetic surgery. Originally from Australia, Mr. Giele took a post at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford in 1997. Mr. Giele came to the UK having had posts in various regions of Australia and also France. Mr. Giele is a member of many medical associations, including the British Association of Plastic Surgeons, and is widely published in books and journals.
Linda Hands: Vascular Surgery
Linda Hands graduated in Medicine from the University of London in 1977, did surgical training in Oxford and the University of Chicago, and was appointed Clinical reader in Surgery in 1992. Miss Hands is a member of the Oxford Regional Vascular Service. Her research interests include coagulation defects in peripheral vascular disease, venous disease and telemedicine.
Paul Leeson: Echocardiography
Paul Leeson studied medicine at St. Andrews and Cambridge before moving to Oxford for specialist training in cardiology. His sub-specialty interest is in cardiovascular imaging. While in Cambridge he completed an MB/PHD programme and, during early clinical training undertook post-doctoral research at University College London. He is now a British Heart Foundation Fellow at the University of Oxford with a clinical research programme that uses ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging to study the development of cardiovascular disease. He is co-author of three Oxford Specialist Handbooks in Cardiology covering echocardiography, pacing and angiography.
Stephen Mark: Urological Surgery
Stephen Mark trained for his fellowship at Duke University and Bristol. He is the consultant and head of the department of Urology at Christchurch hospital, New Zealand.
Theresa McDonagh: Heart Failure
Theresa McDonagh graduated from Edinburgh University in 1987. She trained in Cardiology at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow. She was involved in the research into epidemiology of Left Ventricular Dysfunction in North Glasgow and early work on BNP as a biomarker in Heart Failure. Subsequently, she was appointed as a Senior Lecturer to run the Heart Failure Service for Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Transplant Assessment Programme for Scotland. She has continued research into prognostic biomarkers in Heart Failure. Currently, she is the Clinical and Research lead for Heart Failure at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, where she combines a clinical interest Heart Failure with clinical research.
Andrew Mitchell: Echocardiography
Dr. Mitchell is Consultant Cardiologist in Jersey, Channel Islands and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Dr. Mitchell has special interests in non-invasive imaging, with particular expertise in transoesophageal and intracardiac echocardiography. His other interests include the role of device therapy for arrythmia management. Dr. Mitchell is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).
Michael Murphy: Vascular Surgery
Michael Murphy graduated from University College Dublin in 1993, after having studied for an MB, BCH and BAO. Following this, he took a fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and took an FRCSI. Mr. Murphy took an MD in 2002 from work through the university College Dublin, and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Currently Mr. Murphy is a Clinical Lecturer in surgery at the Nuffield Department of Surgery, University of Oxford, and is an Honorary Specialist Registrar of vascular surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Simon Ray-Chaudhuri: Vascular Surgery
Simon Ray-Chaudhuri studied for a BSc in Anatomy at the University of London, and also gained a MB.BS whilst there, and went on to further receive a Diploma of F.R.C.S. Mr. Ray-Chaudhuri is a winner of the Frewin Prize in 1996 from Oxford University, and also the Registrar's Prize from the Oxford Regional Surgeons' Meeting in 2003. Mr. Ray-Chaudhuri is currently a Senior Clinical Fellow ar Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals, London.
John Reynard: Urological Surgery
John Reynard is a consultant urological surgeon based in Oxford. He also provides a specialist neurourological service for patients with spinal cord injury at The Nationalm Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He has published widely in the field of neurourology. He teaches medical students from the University of Oxford Clinical Medical on a variety of topics and has written several books on urological subjects for both medical students and trainee surgeons.
Michael Sharp: Vascular Surgery
Michael Sharp is a graduate of St. Mary's Hospital Medical School, taking a BSc in Clinical Science, earning the Max Bonn Prize for Best Clinical Project, and an MBBS. AS a Postgraduate, Mr. Sharp earned an FRCS in General Surgery, a CCST, and a GMC Specialist Registrar in General Surgery.
Jonathan Timperley: Pacemakers and ICDs
Dr. Jonathan Timperley studied medicine at the University of Leeds, before undertaking his specialist training in cardiology in Oxford. His sub-specialty interest is pacing devices and heart failure. During his time in Oxford he completed an MD in the field of echocardiographic assessment of cardiac disease.
Kevin Turner: Urological Surgery
Kevin Turner MA DM FRCS (Urol) qualified from Oxford University in 1993 and trained in urological surgery in Oxford, Edinburgh and Melbourne. His main clinical and research interests are uro-oncology. In 2002 his DM thesis was awarded the European Association of Urology thesis Award and in 2004 he was elected to the office of hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Niki Walker: Heart Failure
Niki Walker graduated from Glasgow University in 1993, 1996 and again in 2004. During the course of her PhD she studied ventricular arrythmia mechanisms in heart failure. She is currently a specialist registrar in Cardiology in the West of Scotland deanery.
