Technical Issues

1: Error message - “Please insert the CD in the drive”
2: Configure the NSOED to run without the CD in the drive

1: Error message - “Please insert the CD in the drive”

This occurs when the NSOED is looking in the wrong place for the datafile. To resolve this problem it is necessary to point the NSOED program to the datafile, once this has been done the program will remember where the data is located next time the program is opened.

[1] Run the NSOED, an error message appears “PLEASE INSERT THE CD IN THE DRIVE”, or similar. Click CANCEL
[2] Another error will appear “ERROR FILE DOES NOT EXIST”, or similar. Click OK
[3] An OPEN NEW SOED DATA FILE window should be displayed. In the DRIVES box select the CD drive from the drop-down menu
[4] In the FOLDERS box double-click on the CD drive e.g. E:\ which should then show a list of all folders on the CD. Double-click on the DATA folder
[5] On the left-hand side, the file NEWSOEDS.AND should be displayed. Double-click on this file and the dictionary should open

2: Configure the NSOED to run without the CD in the drive

To achieve this the datafile will need to be copied to the hard disk and the initialization file will need to be amended to point the program to the new location of the datafile. Use the steps below as a guide.

[1] Copy the file D:\DATA\NEWSOEDS.AND to a folder on your hard disk,
    e.g.C:\NSOED.
[2] Using notepad, open the file C:\WINDOWS\NEWSOED.INI
[3] Look for a line starting DATAFILE=, replace that line with DATAFILE=C:\NSOED\NEWSOEDS.AND (using the example given in step [1])
