Academic books make up the backbone of our law book publishing. We publish specialist and more general research monographs on all areas of law, with focus areas of international law, human rights law, European law, legal theory and criminal law. In addition to monographs we offer academic researchers a growing range of reference works and yearbooks.

Areas of Special Emphasis in our Academic and Scholarly Law Publishing

    European Law
We publish a large number of substantial texts, research monographs and edited collections in EC Law, on particular European legal systems, and in comparative European law, as well as a major yearbook (The Yearbook of European Law), and the Oxford EC Law Series, edited by Advocate General Francis Jacobs.

    International Law and Human Rights
OUP has a large and distinguished list in these areas, consisting in highly respected textbooks, casebooks, yearbooks, monographs, and research works. These include recent books by Rosalyn Higgins, Thomas Franck, Bruno Simma, Philip Alston, Henry Steiner, Ian Brownlie, George Aldrich, John Jackson, and Louis Henkin, amongst others.

    Jurisprudence
We have a world class Jurisprudence list, containing books by the very best legal philosophers, such as Herbert Hart, Joseph Raz, John Finnis, Ronald Dworkin, and Neil MacCormick. We are able to market these titles particularly effectively alongside Oxford’s large and well respected philosophy list.
