SocietiesOUP publishes journals in conjunction with the following specialist societies: The American Law and Economics Association The American Law and Economics Association American Law and Economics Association The British Institute of International and Comparative Law The Institute promotes the international rule of law and human rights by its activities in the fields of comparative law, international law and the conflict of laws, and in the fields of European law and Commonwealth law. The Institutes unique contribution is, as Lord Denning stated in 1952, in moving freely over the boundaries that divide these fields of law and bringing out the underlying unities. The Institute's location at the heart of the common law world and the financial and commercial centre of London, and between continental Europe and America, dictates and supports this mission. The Institute provides a unique focus on the development of an international legal order, and also of the European Union and European Human Rights. It is deeply involved in the development of international, commercial, and financial law. Assistance to new or struggling democracies and to developing economies is a core task.
The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies (formerly known as ISTD) exists to raise the level of knowledge and debate amongst everyone interested in the problems of crime and criminal justice. It is a non-partisan, non-campaigning body which aims to provide a forum for objective debate and to contribute to the creation of best practice, in the light of the lessons of research and experience. The Centre values and actively fosters inter-agency and inter-disciplinary collaboration in the fields of education, training and research and in the administration of criminal justice. It does this: CCJS is a membership organization with members drawn from the probation, police and prison services, lawyers, judges, magistrates, academics and students as well as interested individuals. Members receive the Centre’s quarterly publication Criminal Justice Matters as part of their membership, and a 10% discount at CCJS conferences. The British Journal of Criminology is published on behalf of the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies by Oxford University Press.
