The Yearbook of European Environmental Law brings together topical analyses of contemporary EU Environmental Law. Leading European and American academics, practitioners, and policy-makers provide in-depth scholarly articles covering a wide range of timely and challenging issues. The Yearbook contains an easily accessible Annual Survey providing legal practitioners, academics, policy-makers, and students with detailed and indispensable information on current and future EU environmental law. Established reporters clearly and critically examine national responses to this increasingly complex body of European law. In addition the Yearbook features summaries of preparatory Commission documents, green books, and other discussion papers, as well as a selection of reviews of books.
'I warmly welcome the initiative of Oxford University Press to regularly publish the Yearbook of European Environmental Law, which has become a reference book for all those who are interested in Community environmental law and who wish to keep up-to-date with environmental policy developments at EC and national levels.
The breadth of material covered in the various editions of the Yearbook is remarkable. Not only does it contain contributions conveying the main strategic priorities of the European Commission in environmental policy, but almost all aspects of environmental law, through the sector-specific or the national surveys, touched upon.
The environmental acquis has grown in importance, size and complexity. Environmental protection is no longer a task of environment administrations alone. The necessary integration of environmental concerns into other policies makes the environmental a cross-cutting topic of Community affairs. In this respect, the Yearbook is a reliable source of information and inspiration for administrations, academics, practitioners and citizens interested in environmental protection.' Stavros Dimas, Commissioner for the Environment
