Oxford publishes some of the most significant works in the operatic repertory. Our catalogue contains many highly regarded and popular editions of classic operas, such as Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov, Handel's Giulio Cesare, Imeneo, and Semele, and Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. Our definitive operatic editions are regularly staged to widespread acclaim in opera houses worldwide, and are often preferred over other publishers' editions thanks to the excellent scholarship that Oxford is renowned for, and the outstanding quality of the performing materials that we provide.
Oxford is proud to also publish a growing number of contemporary operas by our prestigious list of house composers. In recent years there have been highly praised stagings of a diverse range of our 20th and 21st century operatic works around the world, from the joviality of Vaughan Williams's Sir John in Love, to the tour-de-force that is Gerald Barry's The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, to name just two.
Our Promotion Department is able to supply perusal scores, synopses, recordings, and review packs for any opera in our catalogue. Please contact us for more details, or to discuss your plans further. |
