Twentieth Century and New Music

Oxford University Press represents composers from a rich and diverse range of styles. In the early part of the twentieth century, Walton and Vaughan Williams were at the centre of the flowering English musical renaissance. Today, their work is complemented by established and emerging voices of the twenty-first century from Britain, Europe and the USA.

Among them are such familiar names as Michael Berkeley, Michael Finnissy and Howard Skempton, Irishman Gerald Barry, Basque composer Gabriel Erkoreka and Chinese-born Zhou Long whose music brilliantly brings together east and west. Meanwhile, OUP's reputation for choral music is strengthened by the modern-day masterpieces of John Rutter, Gabriel Jackson and Bob Chilcott. The links on the left contain biographical information on each composer as well as details of their works.
