Timothy Dudley-Smith Hymn Copyright AdministrationOxford University Press is pleased to announce that with effect from 1 January 2007 it will be handling the administration of all Timothy Dudley-Smith's hymn text copyrights in the territories of Europe (including UK and Eire) and Africa. OUP already publishes two definitive collections of texts by Timothy Dudley-Smith (A House of Praise and A Door for the Word), and is very proud to add copyright administration for the texts themselves to its portfolio of responsibilities.
Timothy Dudley-Smith is the writer of over three hundred distinguished hymn texts, including the celebrated 'Lord, for the years your love has kept and guided', and 'Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord'. In 2003, he was appointed an honorary vice-president of the Hymn Society of Great Britain and Ireland, and in the New Year Honours of that year was awarded an OBE 'for services to hymnody'.
For licences to print or use the hymn texts of Timothy Dudley-Smith, whether in musical settings or otherwise, from 1 January 2007, please apply to the Music Copyright Administrator at Oxford University Press. Licences issued by Timothy Dudley-Smith prior to that date continue to be effective, but for licence renewals or permission to reprint existing books after that date please apply to OUP. Please note that the hymns of Timothy Dudley-Smith are administered by the Performing Right Society (for public performance), the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (for all recording use), and Christian Copyright Licensing International (for church and school graphic reproduction use, within appropriate CCLI licensing schemes.
