After School Club Facts & Figures

After School Care for children is now a commonplace feature of our society.

Here are some facts and figures about After School Clubs:

  • The number of Out of School clubs is on the increase in the UK. In 2003 it is expected that there will be up to 865,000 places available for children out of school hours.
  • By 2010 there will be 20,000 out of school clubs.
  • The number of clubs which cater for children with special needs is still under half.
  • The majority of clubs do not cater for children over 12.
  • Approximately half of all clubs are based in schools.
  • The average cost of a place after school is £35 per week per child.
  • Which is why so many children will be able to relate to the issues discussed in our After School Club books.
