| Everest has many dangers.
- The slopes are steep and icy, so you could
slip to your death. Or be buried by an avalanche
(a rock or ice fall).
- It is colder than you can possibly imagine.
You'll get frostbite in a few seconds, if you take
off your gloves.
- There are blinding snow blizzards, and icy
winds tear at you. So you could lose your way and
stumble off a ledge.
- But your worst problem could be the thin air.
On the upper slopes there is far less oxygen than
you are used to at home. So you slowly suffocate.
If you don't carry oxygen with you, you will
collapse. And then you will probably die.
The things you suffer for geography!
But perhaps the landscape makes it all worthwhile.
