Rights & Permissions

FORTHCOMING CHANGES TO VAT

From 1 January 2010, there will be some significant changes to VAT in the UK and EU:

  • the UK standard rate of tax will revert back to 17.5% from 15%
  • there is a requirement for companies to produce a monthly report of sales of services to registered customers in other EU states
  • To enable OUP to comply with this requirement we will need to acquire and input the VAT numbers from all of our EU based customers outside the UK who are VAT registered. This includes all of our EU based rights customers: permissions, translations and other licensing activities. Please note that we will be asking that you supply us with this VAT information. Where a customer (in the EU outside of the UK) is not registered for VAT it may be necessary to charge them UK VAT.
